Nets Get Seikaly for Yinka, Others

February 20, 1998

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) _ Rony Seikaly was traded again Thursday, going from the Orlando Magic to the New Jersey Nets in a five-player deal that was the last to be cleared before the NBA’s 6 p.m. deadline.

New Jersey gave up three bench players _ David Benoit, Kevin Edwards and Yinka Dare _ along with a 1998 lottery-protected first-round draft pick to acquire Seikaly and Brian Evans from the Magic.

It was the second trade of Seikaly this week. The center was dealt to the Utah Jazz on Monday for Chris Morris, Greg Foster and a No. 1 pick, but that trade was voided when Seikaly refused to report to the Jazz within 48 hours.

As part of this trade, the Nets waived the requirement that Seikaly must report within 48 hours.
