Joliet woman’s murder trial delayed again
JOLIET, Ill. (AP) — The trial for a Joliet woman accused of shooting a Romeoville man to death has been delayed again.
The Herald-News reports (http://bit.ly/1gEhRUS) 24-year-old Gabriela Escutia’s defense asked for more time because of an issue with an expert witness. Escutia is charged with first-degree murder in the 2007 death of 18-year-old Javier Barrios. Escutia’s boyfriend at the time, Ricardo Gutierrez, has been sentenced to 68 years in prison in the case.
Jury selection had been set for Monday, but a judge on Tuesday rescheduled it for March 3.
