Bernice Daniels, 95, of Kankakee, passed away Saturday (March 2, 2019) at her home.
She was born Aug. 23, 1923, the daughter of Jesse and Florence (Peno) LaGesse. Bernice married Meent Daniels on Jan. 6, 1940, in Kentland, Ind. He preceded her in death in 1990.
Bernice enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, bowling, camping and attending Bluegrass festivals.
Surviving are two daughters, Denise Spaulding, of Bourbonnais, and Debbie (Randy Grider) Gaffield, of Bradley; five grandchildren, Andrew Campbell, Krista (Keith) Buza, Ricky (Kate) Gaffield, D.J. Gaffield and Jesse Gaffield; four great-grandchildren and one on the way.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Dawn Daniels; twin brothers, Roy and LeRoy LaGesse; and son-in-law, Bruce Spaulding.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, at Schreffler Funeral Homes, Bourbonnais Chapel. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 7, also at the funeral home, with the Rev. Scott Henley officiating. Burial will follow in Kankakee Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Aroma Township.
