Rivera Earns Little East Honor

UMass Dartmouth freshman Carlos Rivera, of Lowell, has been named the Little East Conference Men’s Cross Country Rookie of the Week for the second time this season.

Rivera recorded an 11th-place finish, covering the 8k course in a time of 26:26:40, at the Westfield State James Earley Invitational last Saturday, helping UMass Dartmouth to a second-place finish, behind Trinity, in the 29-team field.

Rivera was also tabbed as the Little East Rookie of the Week on Sept. 17 after placing 34th in a field of 295 runners at the 46th annual UMass Dartmouth Invitational.

Two Worcester State University student-athletes claimed Little East Conference field hockey weekly awards on Monday afternoon.

Senior Olivia Antonelli (Westford) was named the Little East Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week, and freshman Jess Hopkins (Chelmsford) was named the Little East Field Hockey Goalkeeper and Rookie of the Week.

Antonelli was named LEC Offensive Player of the Week after compiling two goals and four assists in a 3-0 week for the Lancers. Antonelli now has nine goals and five assists for 23 points this season.

Hopkins was named LEC Goalkeeper of the Week and LEC Rookie of the Week for the first time this season after going 3-0 in the cage with a 0.73 goals against average and a .867 save percentage for the Lancers, stopping 13 of the 15 shots on goal she faced over 192:18.
