Nebraska Task Force One members in North Carolina ready to assist with Florence relief efforts
Nebraska Task Force One is awaiting its first rescue mission in Fayetteville, North Carolina, as part of Hurricane Florence relief efforts.
Local rescue teams are currently handling rescues and evacuations, but as the flooding worsens, local teams are expected to call on outside groups for assistance. Nebraska Task Force One is expecting to assist with the flooding of the Cape Fear River, which runs through Fayetteville. That river is expected to reach levels above 60 feet.
The team is in “good spirits” at the Hope Mills Recreation Center in a suburb south of Fayetteville.
The 41-member team is made up of firefighters from Lincoln, Omaha, Papillion and Grand Island, plus a doctor and canine handlers.
