New Medical Marijuana Dispensary Opens In W-B

A second medical marijuana dispensary has opened in Luzerne County. Columbia Care LLC opened Monday at 765 Kidder St. in Wilkes-Barre. The New York City-based company bills itself as the nation’s largest medical cannabis provider, with locations in several states. Columbia Care has operated a dispensary at 1790 N. Keyser Ave. in Scranton since April. “The opening of this new Pennsylvania dispensary underscores Columbia Care’s continued commitment to the Commonwealth and its patients. It highlights the rapid growth we are experiencing across the country as patients and providers nationally adopt our high-quality cannabis-based medicines to address significant unmet medical needs,” Nicholas Vita, chief executive officer of Columbia Care, said in a statement. “At Columbia Care, we commit ourselves every day to the communities we serve. We are thrilled that we can now improve even more lives throughout Pennsylvania with the opening of our location in Wilkes-Barre.” The dispensary is the 42nd to open in Pennsylvania. Luzerne County’s first dispensary, Justice Grown in Edwardsville, opened in March. To access Columbia Care dispensaries to obtain medical marijuana, patients must be deemed eligible by a certified practitioner and be registered with the Pennsylvania Department of Health, the company said in a statement. According to the company, it offers a “comprehensive assortment of sublingual tinctures, capsules, concentrates, pain creams, transdermal patches and vaporization pens and cartridges in high THC, high CBD and equal THC: CBD doses as well as cured cannabis flowers.” Columbia Care Pennsylvania expects to open a third dispensary in Allentown before the end of the year.
