Meyersdale magistrate reports: Feb. 12
The following preliminary hearings are scheduled before District Judge Douglas McCall Bell in Meyersdale:
Driving under the influence
Janelle Kirsten Long, 24, 11th Avenue, Meyersdale, was charged Feb. 7 with endangering the welfare of children and driving under the influence. State police responded to Mason Dixon Highway in Elk Lick Township Dec. 25. A witness identified Long as the driver. There was a minor in the car who was injured in the crash. Blood tests revealed she had benzoylecgonine, etizolam, fentanyl and norfentanyl in her system at the time of the crash. A hearing is scheduled for 2:15 p.m. Feb. 28.Chad William Rugg, 27, Blackfield Road, Garrett, was charged Jan. 16 with driving under the influence. A state police trooper was traveling on Walker Road in Black Township when a vehicle approached him at a high rate of speed. Police stopped Rugg, whose blood alcohol level was 0.15 percent. He also had delta-9 carboxy in his system. A hearing is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Feb. 28.Cena Marie Matthis, 32, Water Works Road, Garrett, was charged Jan. 30 with possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia, driving while operating privilege is suspended or revoked, and driving under the influence. State police stopped Matthis Dec. 29 on Mason Dixon Highway near Johnny Popper Road. She had buprenorphine and norbuprenorphine in her system. A hearing is scheduled for 11 a.m. Feb. 28.James Robert Riggin, 37, George Street, Hyndman, was charged Jan. 30 with driving under the influence. State police were dispatched to a one-vehicle crash on Fairhope Road in Fairhope Township Jan. 18. He refused to submit to blood alcohol testing. A hearing is scheduled for 11:20 a.m. Feb. 28.Nathan William Maranowski, 18, Lambertsville Road, Stoystown, was charged Jan. 30 with driving under the influence and minor prohibited from having alcohol in his system. State police responded to a vehicle stuck in the snow Jan. 26 on Moore School Road near Bakersville. His blood alcohol level was 0.12 percent. A hearing is scheduled for 1:45 p.m. Feb. 28.
Christine R. Deberry, 46, Hetz Road, Meyersdale, was charged Jan 28 with retail theft. Meyersdale Borough police said Deberry was working at Garlitz Grocery along Ord Street on July 29 and Aug. 5, 8 and 19 when she took scratch-off lottery tickets without paying for them. The total for the four days was $282, police said. A hearing is scheduled for 3:15 p.m. Feb. 28.
