INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) _ Mark Johnson won a 12-round unanimous decision over Sammy Stewart on Monday night to retain his NABF flyweight title.

It was the second title defense for the 31-year-old from Minneapolis who improved to 15-3 with eight knockouts. Johnson, a 1988 U.S. Olympian, weighed 111 1/2 pounds and was four inches taller than his opponent.

Stewart, 27, of Los Angeles, fell to 15-8-2 with eight knockouts.

The bout was even through four rounds before Johnson took control and dominated the 111-pound Stewart by aggressively using his height advantage.

In another fight at the Forum, undefeated Ed Mahone, of Los Angeles, knocked out Bomani Parker, of Cincinnati, for his ninth straight win.

Mahone, weighing 228 pounds, knocked down the 219-pound Parker in the third round of the scheduled 10-rounder. Mahone is 9-0-1 with nine knockouts.

Parker is 14-5 with eight knockouts.
