KLM Orders New Boeing 737s, 747s

SEATTLE (AP) _ KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has ordered a a mix of nine Boeing 747s and next-generation Boeing 737s. Sale figures were not announced, but the list price on the planes would amount to $915 million.

The order, announced today, included five 737-800s plus four 747-400 jumbojets. The 737-800 is a stretch version of Boeing’s best-selling twinjet.

KLM, the flag carrier for The Netherlands, is the fourth-largest airline in Europe and operates an all-Boeing fleet.

The order came as KLM took delivery of its first Boeing 737-800. The newly delivered jet was the first of 17 next-generation 737s KLM has ordered to expand its European network.
