Graduation, swearing in of ten new police officers Special to the Odessa American

Chief of Police Mike Gerke recently announced the induction of 10 new police officers into the Odessa Police Department.

The Odessa Police Academy 16th Session graduation ceremony took place on July 27 at the MCM Elegante.

>> Taylor Ross Box, 24, was born and raised in Odessa, graduated from Odessa High School. Box began his career with the Odessa Police Department on Nov. 6, 2017 and is a graduate of the 16th session of the Odessa Police Academy.

>> Toni Lynn Kaleo O’Kalani DeCosta, 34, was born in Wahiawa, Hawaii and raised in both Hawaii and Texas. DeCosta graduated from Ellison High School. DeCosta earned an associate degree in general studies from Central Texas College and an associate degree in applied science aviation technology from Community College of the Air Force. DeCosta began her career with the Odessa Police Department on Dec. 26, 2017 and is a graduate of the 16th session of the Odessa Police Academy.

>> Ishmael Flores, 28, born in Veracruz, Mexico and raised in Chandler, Ariz. Flores graduated from El Dorado High School. Flores earned an associate degree in police science from Mesa Community College. Flores began his career with the Odessa Police Department on Jan. 2 and is a graduate of the 16th session of the Odessa Police Academy.

>> Joe Galindo, 21, born and raised in Odessa. Galindo graduated from the Odessa High School. Galindo began his career with the Odessa Police Department on Oct. 2, 2017 and is a graduate of the 16th session of the Odessa Police Academy.

>> Imiley Hawkins, 21 years old and was born in Arlington and raised in Midland. Hawkins attended Midland Classical Academy and earned an associate degree in agriculture from Odessa College. Hawkins Began her career with the Odessa Police Department on Dec. 18, 2017 and is a graduate of the 16th session of the Odessa Police Academy.

>> Myron Perkins, 27, born in Abilene and raised in Clyde. Perkins graduated from Clyde High School. Perkins earned a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice from Hardin-Simmons University. Perkins began his career with the Odessa Police Department on Dec. 4, 2017 and is a graduate of the 16th session of the Odessa Police Academy.

>> Bobby Pietropollo, 28, born in Roswell, N.M. and raised in Odessa. Pietropollo graduated from Permian High School and earned an associate degree in psychology from Odessa College. Pietropollo also served two years in the United States Navy. Pietropollo began his career with the Odessa Police Department on Sept. 18, 2017 and is a graduate of the 16th session of the Odessa Police Academy.

>> Matthew Ryan Scott, 35, born and raised in Odessa. Scott graduated from Permian High School. Scott earned a bachelor degree in technical management from DeVry University while also serving eight years in the United States Army. Scott began his career with the Odessa Police Department on Nov. 20, 2017 and is a graduate of the 16th session of the Odessa Police Academy.

>> Ricky Scott, 26, born and raised in Bonneville, Ark., where he was home schooled. Scott served four years in the United States Army. Scott began his career with the Odessa Police Department on Sept. 11, 2017 and is a graduate of the 16th session of the Odessa Police Academy.

>> Benjamin Wollot, 21, born and raised in Grand Rapids, Mich. Wollet graduated from the East Grand Rapids High School. Wollet began his career with the Odessa Police Department on Dec. 11, 2017 and is a graduate of the 16th session of the Odessa Police Academy.
