Pedestrian hit by a vehicle in Bridgeport
BRIDGEPORT — An officer came over the city police radio waves with a priority — a pedestrian down in the road after being hit by a vehicle Tuesday night.
The call came in around 8:40 p.m. when a Bridgeport police officer spotted a person down on the road in the area of Madison Avenue and Marion Street. Minutes later, additional police units, fire units and emergency medical services had been dispatched to the area.
Police spokesman Terron Jones confirmed the incident and said the driver of the striking vehicle stayed on scene.
Officers secured the scene immediately, following protocol until there is an official update on the victim’s condition from hospital personnel.
Around 8:45 p.m., police on scene told the dispatcher that the victim was conscious and talking. At 9:03 p.m., the victim was en route to the hospital.
