NEW YORK (AP) _ Joe McCurdy’s dunk with 1.7 seconds remaining Tuesday night capped a 9-0 run that gave Marist a 62-60 victory over Wagner in the opening round of the Northeast Conference tournament, the Red Foxes’ first road win of the season.

Bob Bok’s free throws with 2:15 to play gave the Seahawks (10-17) a 60-53 lead. Marist (6-21) tied it 60-60 on two free throws by Lucas Pisarczyk with 7.8 seconds left.

Frank DeBlasi of Wagner then threw a crosscourt pass that was intercepted by Bobby Joe Hatton who found McCurdy all alone for the dunk. Pisarczyk then intercepted the inbounds pass.

The ninth-seeded Red Foxes advanced to Friday night’s quarterfinal and will play at top-seeded Long Island University (18-8).

Dan Seigle, Wagner’s leading scorer and rebounder at 18.1 points and 6.4 rebounders, sprained his left ankle with 12:25 left in the first half and never returned. He finished with three points.

Pisarczyk had 20 points, while Bryan Whittle had 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Red Foxes.

Darius Wright had 15 points for the Seahawks, while Ryan Reed added 14 and Bok 10.
