Havasu woman arrested on DUI charges after accident, had daughter, 12, in car
A Lake Havasu City woman faces felony charges after she was involved in a drunken driving accident with her 12-year-old daughter in the vehicle.
Police say Kara Chambers, 54, of Havasu, was the driver of a Ford truck that hit a black Jeep at the intersection of State Route 95 and Mulberry Avenue on the night of Feb. 23. When officers arrived, they found Chambers slurring her words and they noticed an odor of alcohol. Chambers refused a breath test. Officers obtained authorization from Judge Mitch Kalauli to conduct a blood test. The results of the blood test were not immediately available.
She was booked into Lake Havasu City Jail on felony charges of aggravated DUI with a passenger under 15 years old, child abuse, and a misdemeanor charge of endangerment.
