Body discovered in Quinnipiac River in New Haven
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — The body of a man has been discovered in the Quinnipiac River in New Haven.
Rick Fontana, the city’s emergency operations director, tells the New Haven Register that the man appears to be in his 30s. Fontana says the body was removed from the water on Sunday afternoon and the New Haven Police Department is investigating the matter.
Crews were searching for a person on Saturday night after a witness claimed to have seen someone jump from the Grand Avenue bridge into the water. Fontana says authorities are investigating whether this is the same person.
The body was spotted by someone aboard a commercial tugboat.
