Killen’s Steakhouse set to open in The Woodlands by April 1
Killen’s Steakhouse, the fifth concept by 2019 James Beard Award semi-finalist Chef Ronnie Killen, is due to open at 1700 Research Forest Drive in Shenandoah by April.
The new venture is more than 50 miles north of Killen’s closest retaurant, Killen’s STQ, allowing the company to expand its reach north.
“(The Woodlands) is so far away from Pearland, and that location draws a lot of people from Houston” said co-owner Deanna Killen.
The new location’s menu isn’t set to veer to far from the original location — diners will feast on Killen’s famed ribeyes, New York strips, Wagyus and tomahawks, as well as Gulf oysters, chicken fried steak and pork belly. The location, though, will also feature elements from Killen’s STQ, where the menu features more Southern and barbecue dishes like fried chicken and barbecued Maine lobster tail.
“Since it’s so far from (Killen’s Barbecue in Pearland), he wants to put a little bit more flavor from that joint effort up here,” Deanna Killen said.
The restaurant is taking over the space formerly occupied by Bob’s Steak & Chop House, with some minor modifications, including expanded wine storage and a private event space, Deanna Killen said.
“The interior was a little too masculine,” she added. “There were a lot of wood panels — some of those are coming down — but, it seemed like a really great opportunity for us to turnkey into the property.”
