HOUSTON (AP) _ Tom Gugliotta scored 33 points, including a five-footer off an alley-oop inbounds pass with less than a second left in overtime, as the the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Houston Rockets 116-115 Friday night.

The victory extended Minnesota's winning streak to four games and put the Timberwolves (20-16) four games over .500 for the first time in the club's history.

The Timberwolves called a timeout with 1.7 seconds left in overtime after Charles Barkley rebounded a miss by Eddie Johnson and put it back in for a 115-114 Houston lead.

On the inbounds play, Gugliotta leaped, grabbed the pass in the air and shot falling away from the basket. The ball went through the basket with five-tenths of a second remaining.

Gugliotta finished with 13 rebounds and also had three-point play that gave the Timberwolves a 114-113 lead with 27 seconds left.

The victory prevented Houston coach Rudy Tomjanovich from getting 300th career victory.

Barkley led the Rockets with 29 points and Willis finished with 27 points and 13 rebounds.

Stephon Marbury, who finished with 20 points for Minnesota, made a free throw with 20.6 seconds left in regulation to tie it at 103-103 and force overtime. However, the Rockets scored the first six points of overtime for a 109-103 lead.

Mario Elie started the run with a rebound basket. Kevin Willis then scored off a spin move on Cherokee Parks, and Elie slammed home a basket on a pass from Barkley.

But the Timberwolves came back. Parks hit a jumper and Garnett followed with a three-point play as Minnesota tied it 111-111 with 1:38 to go.

The Rockets took a 64-52 lead with 6:16 left in the third quarter, but couldn't break the game open.

Notes: Tomjanovich used his eighth starting lineup of the season. The Rockets have had a different starting lineup in five straight games. ... Minnesota is 9-2 over its last 11 games.
