9/11 Memorial Comedy Fundraiser Saturday

LOWELL -- A comedy fundraiser will be held Saturday at the East End Club, 14 West Fourth St., to raise money to build a 9/11 Memorial in Lowell.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the show starts at 7:30. Tickets are $20 online at funny4funds.com/events , or $25 at the door.

There will be a cash bar, raffles and a 50/50 drawing, but guests are welcome to bring their own snacks.

Hungry? Just wing it at Wamesit Lanes on March 21

TEWKSBURY -- Wamesit Lanes is hosting a not-so-ordinary wing-eating competition. At the Head to Head Wing Eating World Championship on Thursday, March 21, competitors will face off in a single-elimination, bracket-style competition in which they’ll have to finish as many wings as possible in a certain amount of time.

The winner of each match will move on until only one champion remains. That champion will win a trophy, a cash prize and will be crowned.

The competition starts at 7 p.m. The entry fee is $20, and competitors must be 18 or older. Budweiser is sponsoring the event. More information can be found at Wamesit Lanes’ website.

World War II letters focus of talk in Billerica

BILLERICA -- A few years ago, writer Corrine H. Smith discovered more than 100 letters between her mother and 16 servicemen at the end of World War II. On Tuesday, Feb. 26, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Smith will present the letters and discuss her attempts to find the families of those servicemen and return the letters.

Smith’s presentation, focusing on the intersection of history and genealogy, will take place at Billerica Public Library. The Billerica Public Library Foundation is sponsoring the event. Those interested in attending must register in advance through the Billerica Public Library’s website.

Laugh while raising money for ‘Tools for Students’

BILLERICA -- The Dutile Tremblay Community Fund’s eighth annual comedy show, benefiting the David M. Dutile “Tools for Students” scholarship, will take place at the Billerica Elks on Saturday, March 23.

The yearly recipients are graduates of Shawsheen Valley Technical High School who will continue in their trade upon graduation.

The comedy show will feature four comedians. There will be raffles, door prizes and a cash bar. Tickets are $20 each.
