Louisiana school system to replace deceased board member
SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) — The Caddo Parish School Board has started the formal process of replacing board member Larry Ramsey, who died last week.
The Times reports the board on Tuesday declared the District 10 seat vacant, outlined the process to appoint a replacement and called a special meeting for Feb. 27 at 9 a.m. to interview candidates. The person chosen will serve until November elections.
Applications are due by 4:30 p.m. Feb. 26.
Ramsey died Feb. 10 at his home of pancreatic cancer. He was 70 years old.
Colleagues remembered him as the “grandfather of the board” and a stickler for the rules.
Board member Barry Rachal says Ramsey will be missed.
