CWC tops Dodgeland girls
JUNEAU — Sophomore guard Autumn Zuhlke led four players in double figures with 13 points as Central Wisconsin Christian defeated Dodgeland’s girls basketball team 55-43 in a Trailways East game on Saturday.
Central Wisconsin Christian (2-3, 1-1 in conference) took a 38-20 lead into halftime. Dodgeland (3-3, 1-1) cut the deficit to eight with seven minutes remaining but drew no closer.
“CWC shot the ball well in the first half and got a lot of offensive rebounds,” Dodgeland girls basketball coach Barry Hinrichsen said. “(Freshman forward Adrianne) Bader picked up three quick fouls and sat 12 minutes of the first half. We got hurt on the defensive boards a little bit with that. They hit their three 3s in the first half and hurt us on the glass.
“We challenged the girls at halftime and made some adjustments. We did a much better job with turnovers in the second half and Bader was able to play the entire second half. We cut it to eight with seven minutes left and had a couple possessions where we had them just roll off the rim that would have made a difference. They didn’t fall our way, but girls fought hard right to the end and played a solid second half.”
Senior guard Julia Holtz scored a game-high 20 points for Dodgeland. Senior guard Meygan Benzing added seven points and a team-high nine rebounds. Bader finished with nine points.
