CINCINNATI (AP) _ The E.W. Scripps Co., which owns newspapers, broadcast stations and cable television systems, said Thursday it will revive an entertainment programming venture.

The company said it would headquarter Scripps Howard Productions, which has been dormant since its creation in 1989, in Los Angeles.

David Percelay, a veteran producer will serve as president, while former NBC programming executive Michele Brustin will produce and develop entertainment properties.

Scripps Howard Productions will acquire, create, and distribute entertainment and news programming for domestic and international markets.

Last week, Scripps said it would launch the 24-hour Home and Garden Television Network. The national cable channel is to begin operating next fall.

E.W. Scripps Co. publishes 20 daily newspapers, owns and operates 10 television stations, and owns cable TV networks with a total of 680,000 subscribers.
