St. Louis woman charged with risking kids over moving car
ST. LOUIS (AP) — A St. Louis woman has been charged with three felony counts of child endangerment during a traffic stop after police say she jumped out of a car carrying three children without shifting to park.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports the charges against 19-year-old Justice Smith stem from an Aug. 3 incident near downtown. Smith is being held on $15,000 bond.
Police say Smith left children aged 4, 7 and 8 in the car and it rolled away after she jumped out. She’d been stopped for an improper window tint and an unreadable license plate.
Police said she noticed that the car kept moving after she jumped out. She told an officer that children were inside and the officer got into the car and put it in park.
