BOSTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) _ A man wanted for questioning in the rape of a 96-year-old woman killed himself as police surrounded his home, authorities said.

Joseph Drake, 35, apparently shot himself in the head Wednesday, said Sgt. Michael Seinen of the Ionia County Sheriff's Department.

Police had gone to Drake's home to question him about Tuesday's sexual assault. As officers waited for court papers that would allow them to search the home, they tried to contact Drake over a bullhorn. Drake didn't respond, and he was later found dead.

Police said Drake became a suspect when fingerprints found at the victim's home matched those on file from Drake's prior drunken driving arrests.
