Star Wars Burlesque Show Coming To Sands Bethlehem

January 16, 2019

A burlesque show that parodies the Star Wars movie series is coming to Sands Bethlehem Event Center, it was just announced. “The Empire Strips Back,” which features all the classic Star Wars characters and combines strip tease, song and dance, troupe routines and plenty of humor, will perform at 8 p.m. May 1. Tickets, at $29.50-$59.50, go on sale 10 a.m. Jan. 18 at the Sands box office at 77 Sands Blvd., Bethlehem, at www.sandseventcenter.com and at 800-745-3000. The unauthorized show, which originated in Australia, enters the world of burlesque with sexy Stormtroopers, a seductive Boba Fett, a lady-like Skywalker, scantily clad daring Droids and even Darth Vader with a feminine twist. Burlesque is rare for the event center, but has been there before. In had its first burlesque offering in 2015, when The Lalas Burlesque Show, which featured six Los Angeles-based female professional dancers in a show of comedy, appeared at the venue. Cherrybomb, a female burlesque troupe with stripper-type dancing, side-show with fire eating and breathing, silk climbing and more than a music act, was the opening act for Stone Sour in 2017.
