NEW YORK (AP) _ Over the years, New York’s restaurants frequently have served as killing grounds for the city’s organized crime families. The locations of some of the more infamous eatery executions:
-Sparks Steak House in mid-Manhattan, where in 1985 Gambino crime family boss Paul Castellano and his driver were shot to death as they stepped from their car.
-Joe and Mary Restaurant in Brooklyn, where Bonanno crime family strongman Carmine Galente was shot to death in 1979 by three men in ski masks while he dined.
-The Neapolitan Noodle on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, where several businessmen were shot in 1972 when a mob gunman mistook them for members of the Colombo crime family.
-Umberto’s Clam House in Little Italy, where mobster ″Crazy Joe″ Gallo was shot to death in 1972 while he sat with his back to the front door. -Nuova Villa Tammaro on Coney Island, where ″Joe the Boss″ Masseria was shot to death by four men in 1931, seconds after the man who engineered his murder, Lucky Luciano, stepped into the men’s room.
