Facing Hunger Foodbank hosting fundraising dinner

September 24, 2018

CEREDO — The Facing Hunger Foodbank will hold a special Hunger Action Month awareness dinner at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, at Rocco’s Ristorante, 252 Main St., Ceredo, to benefit the food bank.

The event will kick off at 6 p.m. with a special VIP meet and greet with New York Times best-selling author Clint McElroy, whose graphic novel “The Adventure Zone: Here There Be Gerblins” became the first graphic novel in history to hit the No. 1 spot on the New York Times Best Sellers list. The VIP tickets include an autographed copy of the book as well as appetizer, dinner, dessert, wine and beer. The VIP tickets are $250 for a couple and $125 for singles.

Dinner will start at 7 p.m. Dinner-only tickets are $160 per couple and $80 per single and include appetizer, dinner, dessert, wine and beer.

The McElroys are being honored since they donated the proceeds of their fan art book to the Facing Hunger Foodbank. That book, called “The Adventure Zine,” was put together in 2017 by Carey Pietsch, who also did “Here There Be Gerblins” art, and fellow artist Megan Raley. The 56-page book has raised more than $190,000 for the food bank.

“We felt like this was a good opportunity for us to honor them,” said Facing Hunger Foodbank executive director Cyndi Kirkhart. “They have raised $191,000 and climbing. We felt like with it being Hunger Action Month that this was a good time to honor them and to send them off on their West Coast tour with full bellies and smiles on their faces.”
