Katy Hispanic Heritage Festival rescheduled
The first annual Hispanic Heritage Heritage Festival that was to be held at Central Green at La Centerra in Katy has been rescheduled to Oct. 27.
The event was canceled due to stormy weather on Sept. 29, said Yvonne Arceneaux, Central Green Parks Manager.
The event will now take place on Saturday, Oct. 27 between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., she said.
The Hispanic Heritage Festival is an all ages event that will bring together the cultures of at least 19 different Spanish-speaking countries, including Costa Rica, Colombia, Bolivia, Venezuela and Peru.
Activities include smashing pinatas, martial arts, dancing, live music, face painting and a smorgasbord of food.
“We have celebrated Hispanic Heritage month for five years at Central Green” Arceneaux told the Rancher recently. “However, this is our first festival.”
The festival is sponsored in part by the Willow Fork Drainage District.
