ATLANTA (AP) _ Freshman Dion Glover had 28 points and eight rebounds Saturday and No. 22 Georgia Tech, playing with Matt Harpring, routed Delaware State 84-63.
Freshman Alvin Jones had eight blocked shots to bring his total to 35 in six games and also had nine points and eight rebounds for the Yellow Jackets (5-1).
Michael Maddox had 16 points and nine rebounds and Jason Floyd added 14 points and eight rebounds for Georgia Tech. Floyd started in place of Harpring, the Atlantic Coast Conference’s scoring and rebounding leader who saw his consecutive game streak end at 90 because of a sprained ankle.
The Hornets (2-3), who shot 27.8 percent, were led by Terence Hood with 14 points, while Brian Butler added 13.
The Yellow Jackets scored the first 15 points of the game, shutting out the Hornets for 6:12. Georgia Tech led 44-24 at halftime and by as many as 32 points in the second half.
Harpring, averaging 21.4 points and 11.6 rebounds, is expected to play in Georgia Tech’s next game, at No. 7 Kentucky on Dec. 13.
