Three Tenors Coming to Motown
DETROIT (AP) _ The Three Tenors are coming to Motown.
Opera superstars Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras will perform July 17 in Detroit at a concert sponsored by Ford Motor Co., the Detroit Free Press reported today.
Other details _ including the site and ticket prices _ were not available, said Kathi Kammerdiener, assistant to the vice president of operations for the trio’s production company, the Rudas Organization.
The Three Tenors first performed together in 1990. Other appearances scheduled this year are Saturday in Tokyo and April 18 in Pretoria, South Africa.
All three singers have performed separately in Detroit. Pavarotti, 63, participated in the grand opening celebration of the opera house in April 1996. Carreras, 52, performed there 11 months later. Domingo, 57, performed in June 1994 at the Masonic Temple.
