SCOTT WALKER REMEMBERED

LONDON (AP) - While American music fans may know Scott Walker for his hits with The Walker Brothers in the 1960s, his experimental solo work grabbed the attention of a different generation of musicians, especially in the U.K. Thom Yorke of Radiohead says Walker was a “huge influence” on the band and on him. Yorke tweets Walker showed him how to use his voice and words. Marc Almond of Soft Cell says Walker influenced him not just musically, but even the haircut and dark glasses Almond wore in the early days of Soft Cell. Graham Coxon of Blur tweets Walker was “a mysterious and beautiful man” and his music was “vast, emotional, brutal and hilarious.” Walker died Friday afternoon at the age of 76, according to his label, 4AD. A cause of death was not given.

MADDIE AND TAE START AGAIN WITH “ONE HEART TO ANOTHER”

NASHVILLE (AP) — When Maddie and Tae’s record label shut down just as they were finishing what they thought was their second album, they not only worried what was going to happen to their careers, but to their fans. Singer Taylor Dye says they were lucky in that their fans stuck by them. Then Maddie and Tae had to tackle finding another label and making another album. Dye says they made their name with “Girl in a Country Song,” but since so many people wrote them off as a novelty act, they had to prove they were more. Dye says they show “a deeper, more mature, in-depth version” of Maddie and Tae on their upcoming EP, “One Heart To Another.” It comes out April 26.

ACMS ANNOUNCE NEW ARTIST AWARD WINNERS

NASHVILLE (AP) - Ashley McBryde’s reaction to learning she won the Academy of Country Music’s new female artist award was to let go of an expletive and throw her red Solo cup in the air. McBryde posted a video of her getting the news from Carrie Underwood, who called the early winners on behalf of the ACMs. Luke Combs jokes he was making a toaster strudel when Underwood called to tell him he won the new male artist award. LANCO’s reaction to Underwood telling them they won new group of the year was a “slow clap” for themselves. The ACM Award will air April 7 on CBS.
