Upstate man drowns in central NY lake
HINCKLEY, N.Y. (AP) — Police in upstate New York say a 34-year-old man has drowned in lake over the weekend.
The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office says Michael Litz of Oriskany (aw-RIHS’-kuh-nee) was on a day trip Sunday afternoon with relatives and associates on an island in Hinckley Lake. Witnesses told the sheriff’s office that Litz went into the water and suffered an unknown distress.
Deputies say he wasn’t wearing a floatation device. Litz was pulled from the water by the witnesses who found him unresponsive.
Police are investigating.
