Farmers’ Market Marks 10 Years Friday Afternoon
WESTMINSTER -- The Westminster Farmers’ Market, open every Friday from 3 to 6 p.m., at the Town Common on Academy Hill, will celebrate 10 years of operation Friday, Aug. 24, with free tidbits of anniversary cake (while it lasts) and much more.
From 3:30 to 5:30, as part of the Peak of the Harvest & Anniversary event, there will be farm animals, food-preservation demonstrations, cast-iron cooking and a recipe contest. Those interested in participating in the recipe contest (at least 50 percent of ingredients must come from local farms), should look for the post on the market’s Facebook page or contact ML Altobelli at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Market vendors will be stocked with all their regular items plus newly harvested corn, beans, apples, peaches and blueberries.
The local band The Hip Swayers will provide entertainment.
