Newtown house destroyed in early morning fire

NEWTOWN - A house in the Hawleyville section of town was destroyed in an early morning fire.

The house, located at 5 Farrell Road, was already heavily involved when a Newtown police officer arrived on scene shortly after the 911 calls came in at 1 a.m. Tuesday.

The fire brought a response from all five Newtown fire companies and Newtown EMS.

According to Newtown property records, the one-story house has an assessed value of $176,390.

The six-room house has three bedrooms and 946 square feet of living area.

The single-family house sits on 1.5 acres.
