Lowell Lays Claim to Vt. Tournament
Lowell High blanked Northeastern Clinton Central School of New York, 6-0, to capture the championship of the Missisquoi Valley Union Holiday Tournament in Vermont on Saturday.
Junior Brendan DeMarco scored 2 goals and was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Senior Thomas Hassett, juniors Matt Asselin and Nick Mandeville, and sophomore Ethan Polcari scored the other LHS goals.
Hassett, Ben Asselin and Shawn Spring each had 2 assists while Andrew Kotsifas, Owen Goulette and Keegan Cote had 1 each.
Senior Andrew Carrabis and sophomore Jacob Vieira combined for the shutout between the pipes.
The Wildcats improved to 2-0 as Ryan Barrett scored the game-winner with five minutes remaining in the game, then added an empty-net insurance goal.
Jared Venezia had Wilmington’s first goal. WHS assists went to Joe Hill (2), Venezia, Connor Benoit, Conlin Duffy and Andrew Sullivan.
Wining goalie Anthony Cuozzo made 24 saves for Wilmington, which plays at Reading on Wednesday.
The Indians (1-1) got 2 goals from Joe Lamarca, one into an empty net after Ryan Brouillette had scored the eventual game-winner in the last two minutes of the game.
D.J. Fantasia had the other Billerica goal.
Assists were recorded by Alexander Coulet, P.J. Cummiskey, Garrett Climo, Anthony Viscione and Anthony Lamarca. Connor Feeney made 23 saves for the win in net.
Billerica will host Tewksbury at the Hallenborg Arena Monday night.
N. Andover 1
All three goals were scored in the third period in this MVC/DCL contest.
Jason Cooke got the party started with a goal early in the third, and it held that way until Will O’Keefe deposited the puck into an empty net in the last minutes to make it 2-0 Tewksbury. NA scored with 39 seconds left to throw a brief scare into the Redmen (2-0).
Patrick Letourneau made 12 saves in net for Tewksbury while defensemen Michael Arsenault and Campbell Pierce were solid in front of him.
Nashoba Tech 7
Matt Venti recorded a hat trick and added an assist as the Vikings rolled at the Chelmsford Forum.
Steven Lubinger, Connor Lefebvre and Jonathan Wright scored the other goals for Nashoba Tech (2-1).
Wright added 3 assists, Lefebvre had 2 and Venti 1.
The Grey Ghosts cut a 4-1 deficit to 4-3 in the third period and were aiming for the tying goal before their hosts scored an insurance marker in a game played at the Graf Arena.
Mike Mucci, Alex Sepe and Tyler Guillemette scored goals for Westford Academy (0-1).
Assists were recorded by Sepe, Max Sears, Kyle Wizst, Dylan Breen, and Jason Bunyon. Goalie Joe Cornetta played a solid game in net with 33 saves.
CHS goaltender Drew Blodgett played a phenomenal game between the pipes, finishing with 39 saves in the deadlock.
Senior Kevin Stolki scored his first varsity goal, unassisted, in the second period to tie the non-league game.
Chelmsford is 1-0-1.
