Tupelo airport sees increase in passengers boarding flights
TUPELO, Miss. (AP) — A regional airport in Mississippi has reached an eight-year high for the number of passengers boarding flights.
The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports that for the third consecutive month, boardings at Tupelo Regional Airport topped 1,000.
The 1,313 boardings in July were the most since August 2010, when 1,345 were counted.
Through the first seven months of the year, Tupelo Regional has ferried 6,836 passengers. That is a 32 percent increase over the same months in 2017.
The improved boarding numbers are due partly to Contour Airlines adding more seats to its planes, starting in May.
