Man dies after getting struck by train near downtown Spokane

December 26, 2018

A man was killed Tuesday after getting struck by a train on the edge of downtown Spokane.

Emergency crews were called to tracks near Third Avenue and Sunset Boulevard just before 7:30 p.m., said Spokane police Officer Nick Briggs.

The man who was struck was rushed to a hospital where he later died, Briggs said. He was not a railroad employee, and it wasn’t immediately clear why he was on the tracks.

Major Crimes detectives are investigating.
