GROVE, England (AP) _ Juan Montoya has signed a two-year contract extension with BMW Williams that will keep him with the Formula One team through the 2004 season.

Montoya, the 2000 Indy 500 winner, has just one victory in 30 F1 victories, but he said he thinks the team can challenge for the title in the next two years.

``I have no doubt that both Williams F1 and BMW are completely determined, and have the will to win a championship title,'' Montoya said on the team's Web site, which posted the report on his extension Friday.

Montoya was 24 when he dominated the CART series for Target/Ganassi in 1999, winning seven races and becoming the circuit's youngest-ever season champion.

He left CART to join after the 2000 season, in which he finished ninth despite the Indy 500 victory.
