Mass. man charged in RI casino fire
LINCOLN, R.I. (AP) — A Massachusetts man has been charged with arson in connection with a fire that damaged several video lottery terminals at a Rhode Island casino.
Lincoln Police Chief Brian Sullivan told The Providence Journal (http://bit.ly/1ds9VXb ) that Abdullah Alkhouri of Tewksbury, Mass., was playing the terminals at the Twin River Casino on Feb. 10 when he lit a cigarette and threw a match in between the machines. Sullivan says the incident was recorded on surveillance video.
Alkhouri was arraigned on a fourth-degree arson charge Thursday in District Court in Warwick. He was released on $5,000 bail and was ordered to return to court April 15.
Alkhouri couldn’t be reached for comment Friday. A phone listing for him couldn’t be found and it’s not clear if he has a lawyer.
