Felon barred from owning guns sentenced for possessing 21 guns
PHOENIX – A U.S. District Court sentenced a Kingman resident to 37 months in prison on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Timothy J. Wells, 31, had a felony record in 2016, when he allegedly posted photographs of himself with a firearm on Facebook. Through several Facebook posts, federal officials said, Wells wrote about possessing and shooting firearms despite prior felony convictions. Federal agents executed a search warrant at Wells’ home in July 2017, and found a loaded firearm in his bedroom. Twenty additional firearms and 22,000 rounds of ammunition were also located in his home.
Wells was sentenced last week by U.S. District Judge Douglas L. Rayes.
His prior felony conviction, which took place in California, was for a charge of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor.
