Russian Sets World Record in 400 Hurdles

MOSCOW (AP) _ Russia’s Yulia Pechenkina set a world record in the women’s 400-meter hurdles Friday with a time of 52.34 seconds, the ITAR-Tass news agency reported.

Pechenkina beat the record of 52.61 set by Kim Batton of the United States in Goteborg, Sweden, on Aug. 11, 1995.

Pechenkina was competing at the national track and field championships in Tula.
