Will Jones joins Watertown Fire Department

January 10, 2019

It was a busy first day for new recruit Will Jones as a firefighter and paramedic at the Watertown Fire Department.

Jones, 26, began his shift 7 a.m. on Tuesday and it ended this morning at 7 o’clock.

Jones said he went on two EMS calls and to the fire at Creekwood Farms in Lake Mills Tuesday.

“It’s a lot to take in but I think over the next few shifts I’ll start to pick everything up and it’ll start to move very smoothly,” he said.

Jones went to Madison College and is originally from Fort Atkinson. He was a firefighter and paramedic at the Ashland Fire Department prior to coming to Watertown.

“I’m really happy to be here,” Jones said. “It’s a great group of people to work with from what I can tell already and I’m very excited to begin my one-year probation.”

Fire Chief Kraig Biefeld said Jones is a great addition to the team.

“We’re very fortunate to have him be part of the Watertown Fire Department,” he said.
