Sheriff releases name of officer involved in shooting

November 10, 2018

JUNEAU -- Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt released the name today of the Beaver Dam police officer who responded to a domestic incident and shot a man.

The officer, Brian Linzenmeyer, is a 17-year veteran of the Beaver Dam Police Department. He remains on nondisciplinary administrative leave as the investigation continues, Schmidt said.

Linzenmeyer shot Richard Henke II, 35, Beaver Dam, in the lower extremities, according to Schmidt, who said that Henke is stable and recovering but did not say whether he remained hospitalized.

Police received a 911 call for a domestic incident Oct. 26 between a man and a woman at a house on Walnut Street Friday at 5:36 p.m. Henke received injuries after the police response ended in gunfire and he was transported to UW Hospital in Madison.

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident as an outside agency under Wisconsin law. The Beaver Dam Police Department is also conducting its own internal review, according to police Chief John Kreuziger.
