Downtown bar sold to longtime River Walk bar owner
The restaurant and bar group that manages three established River Walk properties is adding a fourth downtown location on Houston Street that focuses on cold beer and all the televised sports.
It was announced that The Ticket Sports Pub at 420 E. Houston St. was acquired by the MadDogs Restaurant Group from founding owner Todd Koym, effective Nov. 1. The group also operates MadDogs British Pub, BierGarten and On the Bend on the River Walk, which are all within walking distance of The Ticket.
“This acquisition gives us one of the largest entertainment footprints on the Downtown River Walk,” said Terry Corless, chief executive officer of the group, in a statement.

The Ticket has 15 big screen televisions scattered throughout the property and carries deluxe sports programming packages such as the NFL Sunday Ticket, NHL Center Ice, MLB Extra Innings and NBA League Pass, as well as all the popular boxing and UFC pay-per-view events.
The space also includes a second floor and basement area, and the group has plans to develop those areas into separate bar concepts that range from a jazz club to a country bar or corporate office space.
