May 1, 2019

Textbook giant McGraw-Hill is merging with the online curricula developer Cengage which formerly had its headquarters in Stamford, with the combined company having annual revenue of nearly $3.2 billion.

Cengage offers educational ebooks, online study guides and a homework platform, with the company spun out of Thomson Learning in 2007 and having its main office in Stamford through 2014 before moving it to Boston.

McGraw-Hill and Cengage stated they plan to generate $300 million in savings and growth opportunities as a unified company, without specifying any immediate impact on jobs and with Cengage CEO Michael Hansen to lead the company.
