Anthony Blanchette

Anthony Edward Blanchette “Tony,” 71, of Kankakee, passed away Saturday (Dec. 22, 2018) at Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn.

He was born March 5, 1947, in Kankakee, the son of Achille and Carmela Marnell Blanchette. Anthony married Jean Bouchard on Oct. 24, 1970.

Tony was a dedicated employee of Bunge Oil for 40 years. His pride and joy were his daughter and grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Jean Blanchette, of Kankakee; one daughter, Carla Lavery, of Kansas City; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Marie (Joe) Longtin, of Bourbonnais, and Nancy (Paul) Bailey, of Bourbonnais; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Nick (Marie), of Kankakee, and James (Peggy) Blanchette, of Kankakee; and three grandchildren, Aidan, Colin and Madison. He also is survived by sisters-in-law Bonnie Gilbertson and Nanette (Gary) Wood.

Preceding him in death were his parents; sister, Virginia Hartman; his son, David Edward Blanchette; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Burnell and Burnett Bouchard; brothers-in-law, Kim Bouchard and Gordy Gilbertson; nephew, Jason Wood; and great-nephew, Zachary Wood.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at Schreffler Funeral Homes, Kankakee Chapel. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at St. James Church in Irwin. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery.
