August 7, 2018

Chad Carey has a new project coming to the St. Mary’s Strip.

The noted San Antonio entrepreneur confirmed Monday he’s developing a new venture at 2327 N. St. Mary’s St. Carey and business partners organized under the banner Empty Stomach Group currently operate restaurants Barbaro, Hot Joy, Chisme and music venue Paper Tiger. Carey did not provide any additional information about the new business.

According to Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission records, the new project will operate under the name Little Death. On July 13, the business was issued a TABC permit allowing the sale of beer and wine products up to 17 percent alcohol by volume for consumption on or off the premises.

The building, located between Burger Boy and Chisme, was originally constructed as a Pierce Oil Co. gas station in 1929 according to the Tobin Hill Community Association.
