YMCA weight loss programs help you track your success

March 10, 2019

For 2019 the Huntington YMCA has revamped the PEIA and Weight Loss Programs.

The PEIA Program is a two-year program that requires following guidelines set by PEIA Insurance. Your cost for this program is a $20 monthly copay.

The PEIA Program includes resting metabolic testing (calculates calories you are burning at rest), BMI testing, individual meetings with an exercise physiologist, tracking body composition and measurements and meal plans provided by a registered dietician.

At your first appointment, we will go over the guidelines required by your PEIA Insurance and set up an exercise appointment. At the exercise appointment, you will be given a three-minute step test, one-minute push-up/sit-up test and a sit and reach test for flexibility.

You will be given an Activelinxx account number to log all your exercises. The Activelinxx system tracks your exercise workouts in and outside of the facility and helps you maintain your fitness goals.

In addition, there are more than 40 exercise classes that you can take at the Y at no cost while enrolled in the PEIA Program.

The YMCA Weight Loss Program is an eight-week program (16 activity classes with an exercise physiologist) aimed at reducing weight and improving the quality of health and life. It is exercise prescription designed for individual needs. The classes are from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. The cost of the YMCA Weight Loss program is $75 for Y members and $150 for nonmembers. This program does not include meeting with a dietician, which would be an additional cost.
