Lovers’ Lane Rapist Gets 142 Years
MARTINEZ, Calif. (AP) _ A mechanic dubbed the ″Lovers’ Lane Rapist″ for a four-year series of assaults has been sentenced to 142 years in prison.
Steven Louis Knox, 31, convicted on May 28 of 49 felonies including kidnap, rape, oral copulation, sodomy and false imprisonment, slouched in his chair as Contra Costa Superior Court Judge Gary Strankman read the sentence on Friday.
″I didn’t do any of this,″ Knox said.
Strankman, however, said the physical evidence against Knox was ″some of the most devastating ... I have ever seen.″
In the attacks, an armed, masked man would approach a young couple parked in a remote area late at night, lock the man in the trunk and rape the woman. The victims ranged in age from 15 to 33, with the most recent rape in September 1984.
