Motley Crue’s Lee, Sixx Arrested
PHOENIX (AP) _ Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee and bassist Nikki Sixx were arrested for allegedly knocking over a security guard at a concert.
Lee urged fans to come on stage at the end of Motley Crue’s concert Tuesday night at America West Arena, and hundreds tried to, police Sgt. Mike Torres said. When a security guard, Kenneth Chambers, tried to hold audience members back, Lee and Sixx tackled him, Torres said.
``They thought they would assist the fans by bowling over,″ Torres said.
Lee, husband of former ``Baywatch″ star Pamela Anderson Lee, and Sixx were booked for misdemeanor assault and were released early today.
Bob Machen, general manager of America West Arena, said the rush to the stage caused $15,000 in damage to chairs.
``It wasn’t a pretty incident. It’s so unfortunate,″ Machen said. ``It was a very good show.″
The band was scheduled to play tonight in Albuquerque, N.M.
There was no answer this morning at the Los Angeles area offices of Motley Crue’s label, Elektra Records. Lee’s attorney, Charles English of Santa Monica, Calif., didn’t immediately return a telephone call. And a message left with PMK, Lee’s Los Angeles-based publicist, wasn’t immediately returned.
