Newton Co. sheriff’s department investigating shots fired

KENTLAND, Ind. — The Newton County (Ind.) Sheriff’s Office is investigating a report of shots fired today.

According to a release, this morning at 11 a.m. a motorist was near 400S Road (old Indiana Route 114) and 600W Road when a newer red Ford pickup, occupied by two black males (estimated to be in their 20s to 30s) was soon behind him.

The occupants in the pickup waved for the motorist to pull over and displayed a black handgun. The motorist accelerated to flee; shots were fired from the pickup striking the motorist’s vehicle three times. No injuries were reported.
