Stratford to host ‘Resilience’ screening
STRATFORD -- The Stratford School Readiness and Child Care Advisory Council is sponsoring a screening of the documentary “Resilience: The Biology of Stress and the Science of Hope” Jan. 22 at 6:30 p.m.
The screening will be in the Wooster Middle School auditorium, 150 Lincoln St.
According to a press release, the documentary looks at the science of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and prevention and treatment of toxic stress, now understood to be one of the largest public health issues facing our generation and a leading cause of everything from heart disease and cancer to substance abuse and depression.
“The film chronicles the birth of a new movement among communities who are using cutting-edge strategies to disrupt cycles of violence, addiction and disease,” a press release from the town health department said. “Across the nation communities are daring to talk about the effects of stressful events like divorce, abuse and neglect and coming together to help break the cycle of adversity and disease.”
The event is free and open to the public. To register or to learn more visit https://stratfordctresilience.eventbrite.com. Any possible weather-related postponements will be sent to registrants via email.
